Marriage Ceremonies/Nikah

The Leeds Grand Mosque is licensed to conduct marriage contracts in conjunction with the Register Office.

A marriage ceremony can be conducted in one of two ways:

  1. Islamic and civil contracts performed together
  • Make an appointment for the Register Office to attend the Mosque
  • Notify the Mosque of the time and date of the appointment
  • Bring a form of identification.  i.e. passport
  1. Nikah (Islamic contract only)
  • Contact the Mosque to make an appointment for the Islamic marriage contract
  • Bring civil marriage contract to the Mosque as proof of marriage
  • Bring a form of identification.  i.e. passport

It is mosque policy not to provide the Nikah (Islamic Contract) without proof that a civil marriage contract already exists.

Costs

There is a minimum charge of £25 (pounds) for performing a Islamic marriage contract.  This is payable as a donation to the Mosque.  Please note this does not include the costs of a civil marriage contract.
